Facebook has finally Messenger App for MAC and Windows
After a long time, Facebook has launched Facebook Messenger MAC and Windows App versions. Facebook already had launched its window and mac apps in 2011 but these apps were neglected as they were not user friendly.
After this, Facebook didn’t launch any other new version of this app for a long time and it remained restricted to Facebook Messenger’s Web Version. Most of the people no more used the older version and they also preferred using Web Version of the Facebook Messenger over that older version of Facebook App.
Facebook had already announced in the F8 developers’ conference last year about the release of these app versions for MAC and Windows. Recently, because of novel coronavirus, this developers’ conference for the following years has been canceled. Therefore, Facebook has launched these new app versions without any conference or ceremony.
In this time of quarantine, a 100 percent increase in the video and audio call has been observed. Perhaps, this version of the Facebook messenger has been launched for the need of time as Mark Zuckerberg said in his Facebook post:
We are looking for more ways to be to together even while we’re physically apart
There are still many shortcomings in the messenger app as there is no option of the screenshot. Also, the conference video call is limited up to 8 users only as compared to Zoom and other desktop apps which allow sometimes 500 users to connect through conference video calls.
It is expected that these apps will provide better user-experience than its previous versions. Hopefully, the few shortcomings will be improved from time to time.
